The basics
What exactly does The Answer Mate do?
When you can't answer a call, The Answer Mate automatically texts the caller back, has a quick friendly conversation to find out what they need, and then sends you a tidy summary of the enquiry. You get the customer's details without lifting a finger — and you call them back whenever suits.
Who is it for?
Any small business that takes enquiries by phone and can't always pick up. That includes tradespeople, salons, garages, cleaners, groomers, instructors, removals, photographers, personal trainers — anyone who loses customers when the phone rings at a bad time.
Do my customers need to download anything?
No. Everything happens over normal text messages. Your customers just get a friendly text back like they would from any business — there's nothing for them to install, sign up for, or learn.
Setup & your number
Do I have to change my phone number?
Not at all. You keep your existing number exactly as it is. Setup simply forwards your missed calls to The Answer Mate — calls you answer yourself are completely unaffected, and your customers always call the same number they always have.
How long does setup take?
About two minutes. After you sign up we send you three short codes to type into your phone, which set up the call divert. We then run a quick test to confirm everything's working. That's it — you're live.
Is it complicated to set up?
No — if you can make a phone call, you can set this up. The codes are simple to enter and we walk you through every step. If you get stuck, reply to our welcome message and we'll help you through it personally.
What happens if I reject a call instead of letting it ring?
For it to work, calls need to ring out rather than be actively rejected — if you press decline, the call goes to voicemail instead. So if you can't take a call, just let it ring and we'll handle the rest.
Pricing & trial
How much does it cost?
It's one simple plan at £29.99 a month, with unlimited missed calls handled. No tiers, no hidden fees, no setup charge. One won-back customer usually covers the cost many times over.
Is the trial really free?
Yes — 14 days completely free, and we don't ask for card details to start. You only pay if you decide to carry on after the trial. There's no catch.
Can I cancel anytime?
Absolutely. There's no contract and no minimum term. Cancel whenever you like, and you can also pause your plan if you have a quiet period or go on holiday.
What happens when my free trial ends?
We'll send you a reminder before it ends. If you'd like to continue, you simply add your card and your plan starts — nothing happens automatically without you choosing to carry on.
Using it
How quickly does the caller get a text?
Within seconds of the missed call. That speed matters — it reaches the caller while they're still thinking about you, well before they'd move on to the next business.
What details do I get about each lead?
You get a clean summary with the caller's name, what they're after, where they're based, and when they're available — plus their number so you can call straight back.
Does it work outside business hours?
Yes. The Answer Mate works around the clock — evenings, weekends, whenever. So an enquiry that comes in at 9pm is captured and waiting for you in the morning, instead of lost.
Will it annoy people or feel robotic?
No — the messages are warm, natural and to the point, just like a helpful person texting back. It keeps things short and never spammy, so the caller feels looked after, not processed.
